Carseat Loan Program

California’s Car Seat Law requires that children use a child safety seat until they are either 6 years old or weigh 60 pounds.

Lassen Child and Family Resources has rental seats for infants from birth to 40 pounds, and booster seats for children 40-60 pounds.

Pay a deposit of $10.

A pregnant mother or a parent with a child weighing under 60 pounds is eligible for a rental seat.

Babies ride rear-facing to at least one year AND at least 20 pounds in the back seat.

For young, tall children, less than 40 pounds choose a seat with higher harness slots that becomes a belt-positioning booster.

Children need a booster to position the lap/shoulder belt. Boosters keep the lap belt off the tummy and position the should belt so it is not behind the back or under the arm.
